Hi, I'm replacing a motherboard and have been careful to select one that uses what I think will be a compatible chipset to my last one. (nforce / nvidia).
In my obsession to find one with all the compatible chipset, CPU socket, DDR etc I completely forgot about support for my operating system (Windows 7).
I've bought the board on ebay and awaiting it's arrival, but it is second hand with no drivers or set up disc. I would normally be cool with that as I know I can get the drivers on the manufacturers web site, but in this case, it only goes up to VISTA on the site.
What about Win 7 drivers for this motherboard? Will it even work on windows 7?
Oh I see, MSI and asrock are inferior to ASUS and gigabyte? how so? their online support, or how they are built, how long they last, what chipsets they use etc?
It's not uncommon for Vista-era drivers to get you through Windows 7 OS installation, it's what happens after that that counts.
I am not a hardware expert like Masterchiefxx17, but I do know a lot about driver compatibility & BSODs. I would have given you the same advice assuming you wanted a stable Windows 7 system that will last for a few years.
Unfortunately, I suspect you will likely experience driver issues leading to app hangs, crashes & ultimately BSODs as Microsoft continues to update Windows 7 OS drivers, expecting your device drivers to maintain the same pace.
Not sure how/where to find that info about the timestamp on the drivers but
I've got my own pro audio sound card installed anyway so don't need onboard sound.
I do have the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver which was installed in December 2012 6.0.1.6473 and yup I've updated windows update recently.
Windows search cannot find a Realtek ALC662 HD Audio or Realtek RTL8201C
OK, I'm not sure what line item you want me to double click on.
I've double clicked every single one of the things that are in the device manager list including hidden items but not one of them says Ethernet - Realtek RTL8201CL or Realtek ALC662 HD Audio.
I expanded every category, nothing matching what you said.
My sound card is an m-audio delta audiophile signed date nov 2011
i have about 12 network adapters listed, 7 of them WAN miniports, (one a network controller), a RAS async, a Microsoft ISATAP, a Teredo tunneling pseudo interface, and an Nvidia nForce networking controller#2. But none of them says ethernet or realtek that i can see.
What';s this all about, what will it determine/help, what's my sound card got to do with my motherboard drivers?
I've been told that this motheboard is not compatible with windows 7 and to ask for a refund. Well i'm on windows 7 with it right now running like a dream, so it is seems compatible to me.
It looks to me like the manufacturer couldn't be bothered to update their site to say that you don't need to download drivers for this board on windows 7 as windows 7 takes care of it all for you.
I did not ask a question I responded to you asking about motherboard drivers if you check the link under specifications, it shows what drivers the motherboard would have, the sound is not important as you have a sound card the ethernet\lan should have been similar to that listed
I'm a bit lost. I've asked if this will work on windows 7 even though the website doesn't have drivers for windows 7. I was told no. I got the board and it worked like a charm so I came back to say yes this board works fine on windows 7. That is all I have to report/say on the matter, for future reference, to help you in your future advising on the forums, in your career, or wherever. If you're needing extra information from me, as it appears, then please be more specific, what extra information would you like from me?
We are trying to explain that you may face some issues later simply based on those drivers and windows updating the operating system, I hope this does not happen
download the vista 32 or 64 drivers ASRock > ALiveNF6P-VSTA .unrar the drivers .go to control panel and update the drivers manually for each hardware.choose "browse my computer"and go to the folder where u unrar the vista drivers.in many cases it works.good luck!
