My blu-ray player on my acer 6920g laptop wont spin the disk..........

PLEASE HELP:sigh:

i bought the laptop at the begining of 09 and the blu-ray worked fine. i watched a few movies but have not bothered again until recently when i rented two from blockbuster online and none of them work, the disk just wont spin. it try,s to about 3 or 4 times you can here it start then start again, the rest of the dvd and cd rwr all work fine.when i go to the disk drive myself and click on it it just popes the disk tray out as if theres no disc.been through a million checks :4-dontknoeverything looks fine downloaded a microsoft fix it tool that checks cd a and dvd drives that asks for media to scan to finish the checks when i tried to use the blu-ray disk it told me to insert readable media.so its as if the dicks are faulty but they look good too. ive got a feeling iv picked up an update that i hav'nt noticed as i wasnt useing the blu-ray or a virus thats killed it please please help

Sorry, but i was having trouble understanding one part, You said that regular CD/DVDs work while BlueRays do not, correct?
If that is the case then that would mean that the disk spins initially, but does not continue to load (as in it stops spinning).??

could you please verify on these. Also, you should probable go over to our Hardware section as they would be able to help you better.

It's certainly not uncommon for drives to "go bad" as you're experiencing. If the drive isn't used often it can actually get an accumulation of gunk on the read write head that could cause it not to read media. If it can't read a Blu-Ray disk, I'd see if it can read anything at all, like a music cd, just to test things out.

yes MARK that is the problem, every other type of CD/DVD's work fine just blu-ray disk only, even realy old scrached dvd's and cd's work.i know they use a totaly differant laser but the drive stil works and the device says working propely when checked. As you said it starts to spin and then just stop's and it does that 3 time's.
