I recently had a huge slew of problems with my computer randomly turning off and in an effort to revert things to their previous state, I went through the Setup bios before windows ran and defaulted all my settings, now I cannot open most files directly. The message that comes up reads

"you may not access the specified device, access, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this file."

It is a windows error, I'm logged onto the main user which is an administrative account, please help me.

Make sure you are logged into your user name profile and not a Default Profile (if you profile is corrupted, Windows will load a default profile). Also enable the Hidden Administrator account and boot into that. Here you can Make sure your User Name profile is an Administrator and not changed to a limited user. If that fails then create a new user with admin rights. Copy the contents of your old user file to the new one. Or you may need to take ownership of the files.
