I'm tired that my desktop items keep moving around. I use fences and the quick-hide because there's tons of icons that I have there but wouldn't use frequently (but still would put them there). I have a custom arrangement because of this.

It keeps rearranging them and I know there has to be a way to stop it. Please and thanks.

Hi-

If i follow you correctly, this is a glitch that happens when the resolution is changed and a icon on the desktop is "selected".

Does this only happen if you enter a full screen game or of the like (movie, etc.)? If so, then right after you click the icon and before the program loads- single-click on an open space of the desktop, this will "deselect" the icon.

I hope this is what you are referring to. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for updates.

Regards,

Mark

I can't confirm that it only happens when I enter a full screen program. However, I can confirm that it occurs after that from what I can see. The reason I say the first statement is cause I believe when I start up or restart from hibernation, it has a different configuration.

Because of the speed of my laptop, I actually cannot do it fast enough. I was playing KOTOR that I was loading from steam and before I could do anything, it loaded. It would be too hard to consistently do.

I've heard that there are a number of mods/registry edits to get around this. It locks the desktop icons from rearranging. I'm just a little surprised it's not natively an option I can select, and if it isn't, that Microsoft never noticed it in testing or the beta because it seems that someone would have loaded a full screen program and noticed.

Hi-

Just so you know, i think that this is only a fences problem, as i have this problem in fences, but when i uninstall it the problem disappears.

Try placing the shortcut in a folder on the desktop, then open the folder, single-click on the desktop, and then open the program.

Off Topic- I love KOTOR, it may be old, but its still fun! Not to mention the endless amount of expansion mods....

Regards,

Mark
