Hi, I hope someone can help!
My Vista laptop goes to a black screen when it boots, after the 'Microsoft Corporation' ticker thing. Oddly though, it seems to still be running windows, just not showing me anything! If I leave it to boot, then use the Windows key and arrow keys to navigate to where I know the 'sleep' or 'shut down' options are, they work!
In safe mode it appears to stop loading drivers on 'crcdisk.sys', but does the same as above (whilst still showing the frozen driver loading screen, carries on loading windows in the background).
I have scanned the HD in a dock on another computer and it is healthy.
I have tried system restore using a Vista installation CD, no change.
All the other options to repair Windows etc on the Vista CD don't fix it.
I'm at a loss! I can access my data via another computer but I really need the laptop for my job!
Any ideas? Google yields lots of black screens, but none where it keep running in the background!
Thanks in advance!
