I let windows update download and install KB3181988. It would not install it, even though going through the process where it downloads, installs and reboots.
I ran a check on it. Please see attached file.

Hi there,

Is the update installing via Windows updates console? If so, try downloading and installing the update manually and hope that works.

Quick questions, what are you trying to do on your computer that needs this update?

If the manual download doesn't work, perform an "sfc /scannow" on your computer(Takes like 30min - 1hr to complete the process), reboot your computer, and then try installing the update.

Hope everything works out well for you.

Hi, press the win + r key together, in the run dialogue box type:-

C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{d450a8a1-9568-45c7-9c0e-b4f9fb4537bd} (press Ok)

Windows updates will open, look for:-

KB3020369 (if you have it, like a SP2 for windows seven it includes all previous KB's so most likely you already have it, your sfc log shows no sign of the problem it is supposed to fix, this indicates you do not need it, right click on the KB and select "hide").
