Hi, I'm having problems on my Toshiba laptop, Java will not install, I normally use Chrome but have tried other browsers as well, always from the Java website, always Run as Administrator, simply nothing happens, no pop up nothing, except that when I click the application again it just says an installation is already in progress....except it isn't...? tried closing browsers..nothing.
Can someone please help me, walk me through how I can get java working on my laptop, I wish it would just update automatically, this is always such a pain in the butt because it never works!
Right click the Taskbar and start the Task Manager. Go to the Processes tab. Look for Java Update Scheduler. Highlight it and End Task. Look for any other processes of Java like JRe.
Go to Control Panel/Java/Update/Update now. After it has finished, Verify Java version.
If this fails, you are most likely infected please click on link in my signature for Virus/Malware Help do those things and post in that section of the forum and not here please.
I think it might be because I removed it..I just remembered, I removed old version before installation of new version except new version never installed.
According to the link, Java is no longer used in Chrome accept in Web Start applications on web pages. If a site requires Java, use a different Browser, (ie) Firefox, IE11 etc. Download Java on one of these
What's a web start application on web pages? I googled it but it just goes back to explaining how java works. / That's the thing, I did try to install it at least for my other browsers/ Firefox for example and on there I was unsuccessful with installation as well.
On my taskbar I get a pop up telling me to update Java but when I click on it/ or through start>search>java>update, nothing happens, why is this the most difficult thing to update.
In your IE9, go to the site I mentioned in Post #6 depending on which version of Windows you have and patiently follow the instructions. Make sure you've chosen between English and French since you have both languages activated.
Same thing happening again, Ran Java installation but nothing happens, when I click again it says it's running, but nothing is happening..
So I don't need Java on my computer?
Then why is my computer telling me to update it? is it because i have pre-installed IE, but so does everyone else..IE is pre-installed in almost all computers?
This is the biggest pain in the butt, I click Run nothing happens..useless Java.
Yes, there are no previous versions of Java on my computer, I have removed them all, went back to Download, clicked on it but nothing happened...exited IE, went back in, still nothing..
Followed link, instructions tell me to go to a page to do a manual download, once I clicked on the link for manual download, I clicked to Run to program, then once again, same problem as always, nothing happened after clicking Run, then I tried again except on the second time it told me the program(Java) is already running...except nothing is happening..that's the part I can't get past..
could it be my outdated computer causing this type of problem? I have no idea.. (am having some issues right now with Windows Update stuck on 0% as well...nothing happening) maybe it's outdated Windows Vista causing problems? I'm not sure..is that possible..
July was the last month that Windows 10 was given away for free. There was a rush to download it and MS servers were very busy. Then on August 2nd they released the Anniversary update for Windows 10. And again there has been a rush to download it in the last couple of weeks and the servers are busy.
You can search for Java using these suggestions: How to find Java version in Windows or Mac - Manual method
Tried all those steps, Java is not found anywhere, could be because I removed it from add/remove programs when I wanted to install an updated version by removing older version, didn't know I would have installation problems..
I would try and see if you can do the installation in Safe Mode. I recently had an issue after installing the new GeForce Experience Beta where NOTHING Java related would run (kind of sucks when I am currently working on Java for school!!). So, I would say it is possible that some other program or running process could be interfering with the installation. In my case, I knew that everything worked great before installing that Beta, and when I ended it in task manager, everything started working again. Needless to say, that is one Beta I won't be testing again...
Get a copy of Revo uninstaller and completely remove java , reboot and reinstall and checking event viewer for the software event should be the first place to look.
Yes, that's the first thing I did, used Revo to uninstall all Java from computer, then I went to install the new version except that didn't work, had new Java running as I saw through Task Manager but nothing was happening.
/where do I go in Event Viewer to check Software Events?
Hi, I have had to do this on many Vista machines and that is manually remove java registry entries. Revo does not do a good job and most scripts also fail, you do need to do it manually.
Ok, so I downloaded the Microsoft Fix it Utility but cannot open it, it's a DIAGCAB file...how do I open that type of file? :/
