Where can the wraiths of documents that seem to vanish without a trace be sought to be resurrected? I've got a Dell "inspiron" that runs Windows 7/ windows XP(2001)? Many thanks & blessings to the cyber-sorcerer/sorceress who is willing to conduct this neophyte through the cryptic world of circuitry's shadowy Limbo.

Searching through the Trash

If I lost a text message that I'd tried sending through a website's "contact us" screen, a piece of writing that I'd slaved over, due to an error in transmission-- and, mind you. I'm not saying that necessarily happened to me-- but IF it had, and
the site had been, oh, I don't Know...let's just say msnbc's MaddowBlog, to pull a hypothetical out of the air, where amongst all the moldering refuse of one's "Trash" bin might one begin rummaging?

From a PM:

I did, actually, check there 1st but to my dismay it had appeared empty. Thanks to your encouragement, I found that I only needed to click on sub-
headings to be dazzled by a plethora of files.
Now I'm rubbing my corn-ridden cerebrum, wondering where I might find a bit of high ground for a better vantage point. If it's of use to you, I had tried to
"send" a message from msnbc's MaddowBlog but got an "error" mssg. When I unthinkingly (?) hit the "x" to get rid of the box, it took my beautifully and laboriously transcript with it
Let's keep all discussion on the forum . . I'm sorry, but I cannot tell what you are asking . . can you rephrase with less florish?

I haven't had much success in the past recovering website form data that was lost in transmission.

Nowdays, I use this Firefox add-on which saves everything I type in website forms. I have successfully used it to recover data after powercuts and browser crashes several times. If you have Firefox I would suggest installing it to save running into this issue in future.

Re: Searching through the Trash

What's a folder? Just kidding. But no, I was not in my own email; I was on their site. I tried to send, got a transmission error mssg, clicked to clear it away and, "alakazam:" my screen became as the magician's box after it's swallowed the pretty assistant.
For Old Rich: I'm afraid writing of almost any sort tends to pull that enduringly-aspiring, prolifically frustrated, novelist-rabbit out of whatever other hat I may be wearing at the moment. I'm starting to get that my verbal schtick might be inappropriately loquacious for the (chat-) room. I hope, though, if I can rein in my floridness to just a tasteful splash of color, we can all enjoy the brightly contrasting
shades of each other's personalities without aggravating anyone's allergies. At the moment, it's extreme fatigue that's making my imagery so..."fertile?" But I'll try to do better.

Hi-

It's not that it makes us angry, its just that sometimes we have to "decode" the message, which makes it harder for us to focus on the actual problem. I actually smiled as i was reading your posts but there are also some people here that English is not their primary language, so they may have a hard time understanding it.

Back on Topic- Since it was within a webpage there is pretty much no way for you to be able to recover what you wrote. I like the add-on that Reventon suggested.

Regards,

Mark
