I am trying to fix my granddaughter computer hp pavilion dv4-1514dx, I did reinstall windows 7 and I have al kinds of errors: After the reinstallation of windows 7, I have this message: “No bootable device-Insert boot disk and press any key” When I shut the computer and reboot again I get this message: Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows in this computer, restart the installation.” Then I restart again and this is what happens: Application close [info] NO HDD Hard drive test ok Some times the computer restarts ok but then ask for administrator password Administrator password is Clear in the bios set up Can you help?
It sounds like something went wrong during the Windows re-installation. Since it sounds like you have installation media and this is a fresh install anyway, the first thing I would do is try installing again from the Installation DVD.
I did the re-installation several times and I get the same results, some times it says: Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator.
I there any possible way to disable all passwords in case she ever use a password and forget all about it?
Thanks
The Administrator Password when windows Starts is not for the BIOS, it is for the Admin Account on windows. If you set a Admin Password enter it, if you didn't set on just leave blank and hit Enter.
If you receiving a "No HDD" error your Hard Drive may have issues, or is dead. Restart the HP and hit the delete key, or F2 to enter the BIOS and see if the Hard Drive is recognized in the BIOS. If it isn't then you need to replace the drive, if it is recognized then you will need to download the Hard Drive diagnostics software, and burn to a CD from the Hard drive Mfg's website.
Looks like the computer is partially working, but only boot-up in safe mode or as guest but I can not boot-up normally is there any solution for this other problem?
Hi, as per post #2 is this in effect a fresh install or an in place upgrade? A fresh install requires the HDD to be formatted (all data lost) and a fresh install of windows, could you please confirm what you did. Also do you have SP1 installed and does the OS dvd contain sp1?
As mentioned earlier, maybe corrupt hard drive (check out crystal disk to see if hard drive has errors other than reallocated sector [these are common]). If not, I would consider finding a new media for Windows, maybe corrupt installation media. Sounds like a bad iso or a bad burn, very strange error off a clean install multiple times.
My bet: bad installation media. Unfortunately, unless you possess the know-how to troubleshoot the issue, chances are you won't possess a backup ISO, USB installer, or disk itself.
A reinstall from a set of disks... sounds terrible. Have you tried a clean install just to rule out other issues?
