Inspiron 640m / E1405.
Vista 32-bit.

That is what I'm running^^^

I wanted to download maps for hiking from this site...
http://seamless.usgs.gov/index.php

However, in order to get a picture I have to have a minimun screen resolution of 1280 X 1024 pixels.
When I go to my display settings I'm currently at 1280x800 and I can't get any higher. How can I get to 1024 so I can work with these maps?

Thanks in advance!

I was just reading an article
http://arstechnica.com/hardware/reviews/2006/07/e1405.ars
It mentions that you have a wide screen.
This article
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2950
Mentions native resolution of 1440x900.

If you can get that resolution it will produce 1,260,000 pixels
as compared to 1,024,000 in the 1280x800 mode so it will help with the clarity.

Do the map prog have a zoom feature?
If it doesnt have you tried the browser zoom feature?
By zooming in 20 - 50% you may be able to see some of the missing details.
