Google Music / Music Manager Install Problems...Please Help

I am having a problem that tons of people are having with the install of the music manager, but upon looking for solutions, they either work for a small amount of people or they are 3 pages long, out of most peoples ability range..mine at least

I am first getting an error code 1717 and then "error 4201 the instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a wmi data provider" -- both revolve around the service "Windows Event Log" not running.

I went into the registry on two keys and edited two permissions to allow...to no avail

I rebooted in safe mode, ran cmd, renamed some file to file2, upon restarting it is supposed to generate a new file.

Can anyone help. One person said it may involve a new installation. please , no.

That can't be it, I just did one two weeks ago.
