I started up my pc this morning to find that my DVD drive is no longer in Vista. On some occasions the power cable to the DVD will come loose, this is not the case this time.
On XP there is a registry fix that i did to get the drive back. Is there a similar fix for Vista

Vista is Destroying everything

Vista is destroying itself. Im really Pis""d off. 4 Months ago when i first install Vista it was working extremely well. All of a sudden 1 of my GPU goes dead unable to work.. I removed it and thought it was just a manufacture fault. But then 1 HDD went, then a RAM, then a PSU, now a DVD drive. AND best of ÂŁ$%^ing all, my last GPU is going the same way my first one did.. Ive just found out my PSP Type A doesn't work canrt find Drivers "THERE ARE NO DRIVERS!". My Ipod freezes and crashed my PC.
All the Hardware was/is new only 6 months and its all falling apart $6000 gone down the drain...
Good one Microsoft.....

That isn't Vista for sure, check my rig, I'been using and ocing it till death form Vista RC2, now i'm on SP1, no problems at all, it can be your mobo or something wrong with the electrics (PSU for ex)...It's not Vista

I also have an 80Gb 5.5G Ipod with latest Itunes and no problems at all....

If you give a little more info maybe we can help you

Im getting Code 31 drivers corrupt or missing for a lot of things in the device manager. This just happened like a day ago. And now today only my DVD drive is showing Code 31. Ive uninstalled, reinstalled, installed other DVD drivers. None of them work. The last thing i want to do is to do a system restore (1.2TB to recover)..

Sos about the last post it was late and i needed to do lots of other stuff before i went to sleep

I have the same problem with Vista. It's really annoying because every time I reboot, my DVD is gone. I've discovered a quick fix for it though. I just go to device manager and scan for hardware changes and it reappears. This is really inconvenient because I need to do this each time I need access to my DVD. Hopefully, I won't need to wait 'till SP1 before this gets fixed.

Nah didn't work. I looked in the registry and found that the upper and lower filters where missing. Funny thing is Vista knows theres an error "error message" and it keeps telling me to insert the Vista installation disc. *claps*
Where can i find off the internet some standard Vista x64 DVD ROM drivers

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 99% complete.Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

I carnt access the log. "access denied". Ive edited the security setting for me to have full control but it says only the system can make changes to this file.

I have.. In safemode aswell.. Last night after i ran the scan i was required to restart my pc due to something else. As soon as my pc rebooted i found that my DVD drive was back and the drivers where fixed. Ive just booted my pc back up today and the drivers are now corrupt again.
Whats going on.....
