Do you see the "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD..." message during startup or not?
If it's shown but not loaded properly, make sure the disc is fine by trying it in another machine.

If you don't see that message you need to access BIOS to change the Boot Priority, to set the machine to boot from CD/DVD first.

To do so, press "DEL" during startup until you get into BIOS. Look for "Boot priority" / "Boot order" settings, and set CD/DVD as 1st boot.

 

I don't see any message during start. I'll try the DEL key. Thanks.

 

Have you tried tapping F12 continuously after pressing power button and then choosing cd-dvd drive as boot device?

I can't seem to find the CD drive in the list.
Here's what I see when I enter the set up.

 

It's not in the list. The drive is either unplugged or bad.

 

I checked the plugs and they look ok.

Then the drive has to be bad. That's not an expensive replacement.

 

Can you tell me how to go about ensuring I get a compatible drive? Plugs, size, etc match.
