I am unable to install any M$ updates, I keep on getting error: 8000FFFF. I've tried disableing my anti-virus, firewall, tried manually dling the update from M$, using the M$ 'fix-it' scripts, even tried installing the updates on a newly created admin account, and no luck. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?
Also I have scanned with MBAM, SB, and HJT.. everything looks clean
whoops, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.. I don't think hardware matters since I'm only trying to get updates for Windows and I have an update error
@AMD_Man I have, and I ran that 'fix-it' utility, didn't do anything for me.. its weird cuz when I check my registry I don't see the keys it states to remove, so I assume the 'fix-it' utility did its job.
Hey that was a neat tool, I dled it and it ran successfully except I am still not able to perform windows updates. I am actually back to getting the 8000FFFF error now. Thanks for the help
@Jgriff2 My sid ends with a 1000, I use avast, I just uninstalled it and I use windows firewall. And the components it states the script removes in the KB article do not exist in my registry, I assume the fix it tool is doing its job, I just still can't update.
@james I tried changing the filename but didn't have permission, windows claimed it was in use.
Hi, before you delete/rename the contents of software distribution folder you need to stop the windows update service
