Hello.

I know this isn't a technical question but I'm sick and tired of this virus (avast). Installed it a long time ago on my PC but ended up uninstalling it for its annoying ads.... I tried several times to remove its remnants but PC kept asking for "administrative permission" or something like that (I don't know why bcz this is the only program ever that I had this problem with trying to delete it. Tried avast's own so-called uninstaller and did it in safe mode like they recommended but it didn't do anything and now the stupid reminder to update or upgrade this virus (avast) keeps popping up and I'm just sick of it.

What is the solution and how to remove this virus ????

Any help is appreciated.

I just had a problem like that with removing Avast Pro Suite. I ran the Wise uninstaller which removed it as well as many few remnants. Then I used the Avast Removal Tool and I wanted to allow Windows Defender to enable itself but it could not do so because of Avast remnants and some elements of Avast kept popping up as well.. I next ran JVC Power Tools which shows me every entry in the registry and removed quite a few remnants but still no go. I finally got so aggravated I went into regedit and did a search for everything Avast and deleted every reference and finally was able to enble WD.and end the popups from Avast.

Thanks, Rich and DBCooper for the replies. I usually have no problems deleting a program even the stubborn ones. This one for some reason was different. Tried to delete it from the registry (regedit) but the PC just wouldn't let me....well, until last night -for some reason- when I was finally able to delete all the remnants of this virus program. So far, I havent had any of these annoying pop-ups. So, I think it's gone from my PC.

There's really no way to know if a program is hard to uninstall until you've installed it. Well, this garbage is never ever again going to be on any of my PCs. I think I'll never use anything other than MSE.

If you want to uninstall Avast or any Anti-Virus software, be sure to use the software manufactures Clean Uninstall Tool https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility to fully remove it from your system

Like I said, I'd tried their uninstaller but it didn't do anything for some reason and I kept getting the pop-ups.

Anyway, I think the problem is fixed. It's been a few days now and I haven't got any more pop-ups.

I usually use Revo Uninstaller to remove programs but I can't remember what I did to remove Avast. It was several months back.

"I ran the Wise uninstaller which removed it as well as many few remnants. Then I used the Avast Removal Tool".....I did run the tool afterwards but it still ran Spunk and pulled out more of Avast. I then ran JV16 Power Tools Registry list and removed more and still pulled out all kinds of danglers in the registry as well.
