I use a wireless mouse....any other suggestions?

 

The suggestions still stand also check your batteries and the bluetooth driver for the mouse

 

I have the same problem & so does my partner & we have the same laptop. She uses a mouse & I use the touchpad but it happens to us both. You are typing an email, stop for a few seconds & continue typing & the next thing you know, the cursor had moved back a few words & you have been typing all wrong since you stopped for a few seconds. Annoying is putting it mildly. I have updated, reinstalled, changed settings...basically tried everything within the touchpad the package. Nothing works!

 

Hi did you go to mouse in control panel and then pointer options and tick the enhance pointer precision

 

 

I would go into the mouse options in Control Panel and there is usually an option allowing the touchpad to be disabled when a mouse is detected in Windows. That is a common laptop problem where the touchpads are so sensitive the heel of your hand near it simply makes the text line jump.

I don't see that option anywhere....ugh

 

Yeah I just realized all laptops don't necessarily have that option, my guess is it comes with mouse software if it isn't there already.

 

Do you have touch pad in control panel you could turn of some of the scrolling features and see if it helps

 

the properties lists the disabling of the touchmouse as an advanced feature and the button is unclickable....

Hi how are you viewing control panel by category or by icon as by icon on my laptop shows touch pad which is synaptics

 

 

whats the model number of the acer laptop?
click on mouse whats the last tab thats their?

do you know which touchpad your using? ELANTECH or Synaptics if you dont know you can try both drivers here only one should install. Acer | Download

it works for me.

goto acer support site and enter your laptop make and model and download the driver mentioned before.

 

I have the same problem not only with my Acer but also my gateway. I've tried about everything but in time, just learned to deal with it

 

The link is working perfectly I have just checked it

 

I think it was syn. driver that I just tried and had to spend a few hours restoring my laptop......now I'm scared to do anything else....

 

well i guess i should of said make a restore point before you install a driver. so if something goes wrong can go back to how it was. can do that if you want to try the ELANTECH driver.
