I have a PSU that is no brander and im not sure if this is safe, I'm running a ati HD 4300/4500 but I'm unable to find out how much power that needs, But i connected another small screen that runs of a intergrated GPU on the motherboard, Will this take up additional Power and is it safe?

Hello,
In General a no name PSU is dangerous, regardless of other components.
If you have been running problem free, you are one of the few lucky ones.
Adding a dedicated VGA will very likely cause you problems,if you stay lucky it will just damage the PSU,if like so many others you are not,it will take other components with it when it fails. I suggest if considering a VGA upgrade also consider a PSU to match.
Read this thread http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f210/power-supply-information-and-selection-192217.html all the suggestions in there are fairly golden.
Best of luck.

My System

As above, a no name PSU=Garbage.

If you're not planning on changing any hardware in that system, this PSU would be good:Newegg.com - XFX Core Edition PRO550W (P1-550S-XXB9) 550W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

If you do plan on any changes, let us know and we'll take it from there.

We'll I have 2 VGA cables plugged in, one that goes into my graphics card, and one that goes into the original spot for the intergrated motherboard, Is that bad? I can provide a picture if that helps.

Would you also be able to tell me the minimum PSU requirments for both cards but as if I was running them sepperately please.

Thanks.

4300/4500 is not a specific card but rather a series, the 43xx(17-27watts) card draw low current levels and are often found in OEM PC's the 4550, 4570(40-73watts) draw more current but are still entry level cards, the integrated draws power even if disabled in the bios so loading it up is only going to increase the wattage use around 10w.
I would still recommend swapping any generic supply with a quality unit if you load the pc up like gaming, video editing etc for periods of time.

AH yes, I have been waiting until i have enough money to buy a 650 or 750w corsair from newegg.

So increasing the W by like 10 isn't hugely dangerous if i've been running it disabled with 4300/4500 series for about a year?

I would recommend replacing it for any video card use, how long it last depends on how hard you push it.

How hard as in how much i strain the intergrated one? I'm only using it for simple things like browing, videos or research for work. PC Wizard shows that the Temperatures are under 45 Degrees, even when i'm using my big screen for gaming. and the CPU's stay below 40%

The whole system. Gaming hours at a time puts a great deal of stress on a system, compared to normal office use of typing a Email or letter.

Oh. As you said when the integrated one was disabled it was still using power, so re-activating it surely won't be that bad? If no branders are so bad and made why are they made..

Ah right. Thanks for your help. Hopefully won't have to keep this one much longer. I am saving for a corsair 650w from Newegg.
