[SOLVED] Presario 6000 PC2100

It has been a long time since I have dealt with this older technology
and could use a refresher.

Working on a
Compaq Presario 6000
Model 6RPXE1
Intel P4 2.0G
Currently (sadly) 256M PC2100 DDR Dram 184pin Dimm
Obviously more is needed.
2 memory slots on board 1 in use.
Windows XP

2 sets of questions.

According to this link only 1G total memory is possible.
Is this possibly true and if so what would cause the limit?
Is it a chipset issue or possibly a bios issue?
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...product=240260

While looking around for more memory I ran across a couple of sites that
state that the Compaq requires a certain type of chip to work correctly.
I have never heard of this but now I am hesitant to move forward until I am certain. Is this accurate?

If I left out anything Please ask or possibly PM me so that I will see it earlier.
If I can get the correct info I would like to order this tomorrow (Mon) if possible.

Re: Presario 6000 PC2100

Thats just it.
The Crucial site says that it will accept 2 1G modules and the Compaq site
says no.
Im trying to avoid buying something that is obsolete at least in my world if it won't work
correctly.
I dont see why it wouldnt work but I would rather not have to spend $70 and not be able
to use it.

Re: Presario 6000 PC2100

Thank you guys.
Due to the conflicting info I just wanted to be sure.
This was a gift to my parents from someone. It will only be used to surf the net and Email as they learn so it will be fine for now.
I didn't want to spend the money if it wouldn't work as this summer I will
build them something much better if they need more and it wont be an OEM.

Thanks again
