I need help with my laptop power brick. when i plug the wire to my laptop, it starts to blink and the laptop doesn't turn on. The laptop works fine with the battery but it won't charge.
This might sounds weird but i accidently dropped the power brick and it hits the ground. After that happen the power brick starts to work again. Hahah. Thanks for the reply tho.
Assuming a removable plug on the power brick was not just loose, I agree to replace it. But finding an exact replacement can be a challenge, and often expensive because with many things associated with notebooks, they can be proprietary. You do have an alternative that I use and recommend and that is getting a Automatic Universal 90W Notebook Power Adapter. I use this on service calls and when troubleshooting notebooks. You select the proper tip (out of 13 provided) and it automatically adjusts its output voltage for the battery or notebook it encounters. Thus far, I have had no problems using it on my own Toshiba, as well as several client's Dells, HP/Compac, eMachine, Sony, Lenova, Acer, and even Apple.
BTW, the ONLY way to conclusively test ANY power supply (be it a power brick, PC PSU, battery, or even a car engine) is by testing with the supply under a variety of realist loads. So just sticking multimeter probes on the battery or in the supply's power connector won't do it. The supply has to be connected to a realistic "dummy" load (which are hard to find) or tested while "in circuit" (which can be difficult, and dangerous). So for most users the best way to conclusively test a power supply is to have it professionally tested, or just swap in a known good supply.
