Hi, I'm desperately hoping you can help me....
I just reinstalled windows xp professional service pack 2 on my HCL laptop and having installed the necessary drivers everything seems to be working except for my WLAN. I am able to connect to the internet using a cable, but I can't seem to turn on the wireless. (when i press the hardware button to turn it on nothing happens).
Looking into device manager I found a yellow question mark against Ethernet Controller and it says the drives for this device are not installed (code 28).

Unknown Device Identifier shows it as
Ethernet Controller (unknown device)
chip:Atheros Communications AR5007 802.11a/b/g Wireless Network Adapter

the only other unknown device showing up on Unknown Device Identifier is
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
Chip: ATI Technologies Radeon Xpress 200M (RS410)

My laptop is an HCL Notebook K21 PDC.
Can you please advise me on how I might solve this issues.

Thanks

Hey Oscer1....just wanted to let you know I managed to fix the problem....the link you didn't gave me didn't exactly solve the problem but it helped tremendously as it helped the system identify the hardware...so when I did a scan with driverfinder it was able to find and update the right driver. Thanks a ton for you help.

one last thing....is there anyway I can backup my drivers so that in case I have to reinstall Windows ever again I'll have all the driver software in one place?
