I know it's possible that the speaker itself is just blown, but is there any way that it could be a software/driver issue? Supposedly this laptop uses AC97 drivers from Realtek. I have attempted to install Acer's audio drivers from their website for the 5000 series (they didn't have one specifically for the 5003wlmi) and I've also downloaded generic drivers directly from Realktek. No luck. :upset:
Thanks for the welcome. The OS is updated. The link you posted is for Win 7, I did use both the built in and online XP troubleshooters and wasn't able to solve the issue.
ok go to the acer web page and download the aspire 5000 Audio drivers, befor installation go to your device manager and uninstall the realtek High Definition audio it located under sound , video and game controller. Then go uninstal Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for high Definition Audio this one is located under system devices, then install the driver you downloaded
I uninstalled the Realtek drivers but I don't see a "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver" under system devices. Here's a screenshot of everything listed under that tree:
Appreciate the link but... I can't even tell what language they're speaking over there lol
