What is needed to upgrade from xp to windows7?
Hi. I have a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop, with XP Home SP2, and I don't want to upgrade to XP3 given that it has caused problems for some people. What I'd like to do is replace the hard drive and install Windows 7 from CD. It seems that I may need to add more than just a Windows 7-capable hard drive.
My Dell written sale documentation states that it includes "521MB, DDR-SDRAM 40DM, Non-ECC, 2x256, DIM," "Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2," " 80GB 7200 RPMUltra ATA, DIM, V", "Integrated Intel Pro 100M PCI NIC Card," and my System Information in the computer includes: "System Type: X86-based PC", "x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1 GenuineIntel ~2793 Mhz."
Will I need any other hardware besides the new hard drive, and, might it be the case that even replacing the hard drive it still won't work?
Thanks.
