viewing SATA HDD's from DOS

hi i need to format my C Partition, on my sata drive, however i noticed you cannot view the hard disk from dos with a windows 98se boot disk. is there anyway to get around this? i know that you can just Fdisk the drive, but i dont want to do that and risk deleting important data on the other partitions. please help ASAP. thanks.
