[SOLVED] Dell XPS code 2000-0146

I'm working on my Daughters Laptop (Dell XPS M1330 w/ Vista) I replaced the H/D(with a Western Digital Scorpio Black) 2 1/2 months ago. Things were working great until 2 weeks ago. To make a long story short I'm getting error code 2000-0146 & from what I can find it says to remove & reseat the H/D(I did to no avail). If that does not fix it then either the H/D or the mobo is bad. How can I tell if it's the HD or the mobo?

Re: Dell XPS code 2000-0146

You can test the hard drive with WD's own diagnostic software which runs from a bootable CD. If the hard drive checks out okay, it must be something else.
Download WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (CD) here:
WD Support / Downloads / WD Scorpio & AV-25 / WD Scorpio Black

The download is an ISO file from which you can make a CD (on a CD-burner equipped computer) using IMGBurn from here: Download ImgBurn 2.5.7.0 - FileHippo.com

When you've made the CD, boot the Dell laptop from it and the drive testing utility will eventually open. Select the laptop's hard drive and run the "extended" test on it.

You can also press F12 at bootup and choose to do the Dell Diagnostics.

Re: Dell XPS code 2000-0146

I called Western Digital, told them what the results of the Dell Diag. were & the error code & he told me they would send another drive out. Great customer service.
