I have a shuttle xpc, bought it in October of '08 and after barely 2 months, it wouldn't read the (Seagate) hard drive, we thought it was a bad one and replaced it with another seagate and after a week, the same problem. It freezes, we reboot and then it won't read the hard drive.. just goes to the screen that says "windows failed to start" & asks how you want to start windows (safe mode, normally, ect.). HD seems to work fine on our other computer. What could be the problem?

Could definitely be the motherboard. Also try changing out HDD cables and see if that helps make the computer see the HDD.

Until this morning I tried turning it on and it woudn't even boot up and nothing would pop up on my montitor and my hard drive didn't even turn on. Then when I pulled out my Sata Cable my hard drive turned on ? Any ideas what this could me ?
