Is there anyway to tell if I am getting the max speed out of my SSD? I have a feeling it's not. I double checked, I installed the nvme drivers, have the latest firmware. I have drive indexing turned off. I ran the Magician benchmark utility and for the result this is what I got:
The readings are a little lower than their maximum rating, but the speeds will vary among all different SSDs. What you are getting is counted as very good in my book.
Sequential Read Speed
Max 3,500 MB/sec
Sequential Write Speed
Max 2,100 MB/sec
I know that my motherboard, Gigabyte GA-X99 Ultra gaming does support 4x Nvme . I'm not sure why it cannot be any faster. I'm using a fast CPU i7 6850k and only 1 graphics card. Maybe there is something in Windows or the BIOS i need to change?
What you're receiving is pretty fast in my book. You need to also understand that the Samsung Magician software is not a benchmarking tool and is only used for quick analysis. Your actual readings may vary.
Also, the speed of your CPU and GPU have nothing to do with your storage speed.
