HELP please, sending an external hard drive through the mail

I am wondering are there any concerns I should have about sending an external hard drive (loaded with information) through the mail? I need to send it from the United States to the UK. I have no clue but thought perhaps during shipment it could be subjected to something that would damage the contents, like scanners or something. If so is there is something that can be done to protect it?

Scanners are irrelevant, but you must ensure that it does not suffer shocks. It's very fragile.

Oh, and don't forget to make a backup!

Thanks, and I imagine I can pack it well, but any suggestions? Lots of styrofoam peanuts? wrap it in a pillow?

thanks, Google is indeed my friend I go there first, but my searches didn't find anything...but I knew I could ask here! I must not have used the right search wording, kept gettin stuff about sending email and sending stuff to hard drive etc..
