OS: WIN XP SP3



My system quite frequently gives an unmountable boot volume error and i run a chkdsk repair. I gathered from some friends this might be ruining the hard drive and it might just crash..
Please help !!!

It is likely not causing physical damage to the disk, however, the fact that it has to be run is indicating there are some issues. Chkdsk generally resolves logical or file system errors, not HD errors, even tho an HD error can trigger a chkdsk run. If you have to repeatedly run chkdsk then there is another issue you will need to explore firther
