Hi. The 240 GB PNY 1111 SSD I bought from amazon on the prime day arrived yesterday. I used MiniTool Partition Wizard 8.1.1 first to clone partition.
I cloned both C which contained the OS and the hidden partition that contained the booting folders.
After doing that, I booted the computer using the ssd, it said something about automatic repairs being done and got stuck with a black screen.
After that, I used Partition Wizard 9.0 which had a "migrate OS to SSD" option. Did that, booted with SSD and then I started to get the error message "A Disk Read Error Occurred, Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE To Restart".
This is the fourth time I tried Acronis. The first two times, it did not clone disk, did nothing. Third time, it didn't work again and i couldn't uninstall because the damn program's uninstall.exe didn't work. I got mad and deleted the folder and couldn't uninstall the program completely. Then, I downloaded from the the link in the pny's manual, which wanted me to completely uninstall before trying to install. I did it, and when i wanted to install again it said something like "windows cannot find the file".
What file? It doesn't tell me. I am seriously sick of this idiotic program.
The Acronis program included with the PNY SSD is a free version and does not require a product key. It does not support USB drives, all drives must be attached internally. If you deleted the Acronis program and did not uninstall it, then there are remnants of the program still in the Windows Registry. These will keep you from installing the program again, or installing a newer version. If you can't uninstall a program by normal means, then you should use Revo Uninstaller. Since you have deleted the file, try using Revo's Hunter Mode to remove the program completely. Be sure to use the Advanced Mode and delete all Registry Entries as well. Once you restart you can try to install the program again. If Acronis is not working for you, try Easeus Disk Copy.
I asked PNY's support and they said PNY SSDs do not come with a free acronis copy, only the upgrade kits come with them.
I will try EaseUS as soon as possible.
Thanks.
