Hello! so I have an old Toshiba M750 Tablet Notebook PC and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good way to let my desktop use that screen as a 2nd or even 3rd monitor? sort of like a wacom tablet only the laptop just isnt powerful enough to run photoshop so I want to use that screen with my desktop.... if that makes any sense... lol
Due to having lost all my bookmarks on a previous XP system I cant give you the links to the youtube vidios, but I can tell you, that you will need a controller to make it function. Try searching youtube for "how to use a laptop screen as a second monitor". I know it is possible and if you can find the video I'm thinking of there are links to a company that can supply the controller and interface link very reasonably.
Bill is referring to a hardware solution which will require disassembly of the tablet/notebook. Possible but renders the device unusable.
A couple of software solutions which uses your wifi network and requires no external hardware:
One of my clients uses Air Display. It is a paid application (per device) but the host drivers are a free d/l to the main computer. Can be a bit laggy but allows you to extend or clone your desktop to a notebook or tablet display. Compatible with Windows, Mac, Android and iOS
There is also MaxiVista, however this application only allows you to clone the display of your main PC. Link on page to a time limited and feature reduced demo.
Yes I was referring to a hardware solution. I seemed to have gotten the impression that the display the OP was mentioning was in a laptop that was not functional. gcavan has good advise otherwise.
the Laptops hardware is too outdated to properly run photoshop CS6 with high res drawing, but the screen itself still works great...
is there a hardware hack, or some software that will allow me to use the laptops screen as essentially a second monitor for my desktop? looking for little to no input lag for smooth drawing...
Thanks for any ideas in advance! and please let me know if there is any other info you might need.
