Turned on 2004 pt cruiser AC from a cold start. AC controls on full. Fan on full and recirculating air selected. AC compressor goes on and AC line to firewall immediately goes ice cold. Compressor goes on for 5 seconds and then cuts out repeatedly, over and over. No cooling air coming inside the car even thought the fan is blowing full blast with max AC selected. What could possibly be going wrong??
Tx valve freezing?
Check inside the engine bay when it is running and see if it is icing up where the hoses enter the firewall.
It can be a sign the system needs regassing.
Tx valve = Expansion valve.
Moisture in the lines due to failing receiver dryer indicates a need for evacuation and regassing.
