So i'm somewhat new with building my own PC and it hasn't been giving me much problems except for now where I believe my CPU is overheating causing my computer to freeze and for me to hit the reset button on the tower.
I've tried everything that I can search for freezing issues including driver problems, hardware problems, hard drive corruption and corrupt system files and everything seems to be fine so i'm only assuming its my computer overheating.
I've even tried cleaning the heatsink and processor and re applying thermal paste, re arranging the fan locations, rotating my heatsink from where my friend had placed it so the fans are going from side to side instead of up and down, and switching around the fan cables because one of the system fan slots on my motherboard seems to not allow the fan to run at its full potential. I have another case fan to install but my motherboard only has 4 fan slots.
This problem seems to happen while i'm playing World of Warcraft and i'm not even running it on high settings.
that is my current build. the only thing I can really think of is to get a new CPU cooler and better fans?
One of the places I searched suggested to use this program to check out the temperatures of everything and those are the temps when my computer freezes.
Connect the CPU cooler fan to the fan connector marked CPU on the Motherboard.
Your system temps are fine and the fan will spin as fast as is needed.
It is most likely an in game issue with drivers.
Boot into the BIOS and make sure you are on the latest F3 BIOS version that supports your CPU.
Yeah those are the temps while i'm gaming and watching a stream on Twitch.
It's weird because i've only ever had one freeze while i'm streaming myself.
I'll check out that other program you've suggested
use a more reputable software for temps such as core temp or hardware monitor. Speedfan can be wrong.
PS running your system without the side on will actually cause your temps to be hotter than what they are because it will be interfering with the air flow. Air should come in the fron t and go out the back and/or top. Nothing else should be required.
I've tried out core temp and it gives the same temperature readings as Speedfan does. And a lot of people say the same things about Core Temp where it can be wrong also.
I only had the case open so that I could show the layout of the fans
I just tried downloading the F3 BIOS image and it won't let me update it with q-flash from the BIOS menu. Says the image is invalid even though I downloaded it from the support section of the gigabyte page for my motherboard
My computer keeps freezing and locking up on me whenever I'm playing World of Warcraft and I have done all that has been suggested even in the WoW forums. I have no idea what to do to fix this problem
And when I mentioned it happening once, its when I was talking about when I was streaming at the same time it only happened once. Outside of streaming it has happened on multiple occasions
Yeah I just tested out Hotline Miami and it also froze up my computer.
My BIOS menu tells me that the CPU temp is hovering around 60°C and the system temp is 33°C.
Also while I was trying to get windows updates it tried to prepare the upgrade to 10 and I set the installation for a later date because the updates wouldn't install unless I let it do that and when it told me to restart it started installing windows 10 -_-
I reinstalled Windows 8.1 last night and everything seemed to be running just fine this morning when I was trying to get all my programs back and the drivers installed. And just after I had hooked up my second monitor to watch something on while playing WoW it crashed again.
I was also having troubles getting the BIOS to boot to the right drive so I've disconnected one of my other hard drives and it wouldn't boot up windows from my SSD so I'm doing another reinstall and I'll check out that software when it's done
After reinstalling Windows 8.1 I downloaded that software you suggested and performed hard drive checks and everything seems to be just fine with the current drives im using
You've said that you've reinstalled Windows twice which rules out most software issues. Unless its a program that your installing causing the issue.
The PSU from Corsair isn't the best of quality, but okay. A slowing dying PSU may not be able to handle what you need it too as its dropping in power then the PC begins to pull from it.
