Hi everybody :

Has anyone else heard of Intel's plan to "close up shop", and stop producing CPUs and Intel-based Motherboards ? I accidentally came across numerous websites confirming this. The general information is, that Intel plans on closing doors within a three-year period. With that scenario, that would only leave AMD as the ONLY source for CPUs. And AMD-based Motherboards.

The article is hardly news, being almost 3 years old. And it makes no mention of ceasing production of CPUs let alone closing up shop, only diverting focus of one part of it's business elsewhere. This isn't really that unusual.

Big companies like Intel hardly ever close up shop. They get bought out, change focus, or move manufacturing facilities but they do not close up shop.

INTEL is slowing DT and WS CPU productions and ceasing internal mobo development, as all other DT and WS makers already slowed mobo productions due to significant market shrink (over the explosions of tablets and smart phones). Also, INTEL slows down with the new CORE CPU family releases, as all other silicon CPU vendors do, due to the current lithography limitations (7 nm is damn low).
