Computer Won't Boot

Hello, I have a self built computer with an ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard, quad core processor, OS Windows 7 and 4 gigs of ram. My computer is about 3-4 years old and has worked perfectly for most of it. This is the 2nd or 3rd time its done this where it won't boot.

I've done the pin test on the power supply and it checks out good. I've removed all the components on the motherboard and removed any dust/debris from inside the casing. I've reset the BIOS twice now, removed the processor, cleaned, and re attached it to the mother board. I've checked all the pins and even switched the reset switch with the power switch to check if the power switch was inop. Still no boot.

All the lights on the motherboard inside the case are on, which is odd, I don't remember all of them being on. The INFO LCD on the back of the motherboard is inop and doesn't display any errors. The fans don't turn on.
The computer was on last night, no problems were noticable, then I shut it down and when I tried to turn back on this morning no go. Please help as this is becoming an on going issue and my head hurts from banging it against the wall trying to figure this out. If the answer has already been posted somewhere else I apologize.

Last note, the last couple of times this happened I spent about 24 hours trying to fix it then it just "fixed" itself. Which is why I'd like to find an answer to actually fix the problem instead. Sounds like a loose connection somewhere to me but I can't see or find it.

Re: Computer Won't Boot

Your problem points to a power issue.
Is your Silencer the MK II version?
It is also possible the case Power button is defective. That can be tested booting the PC by jumping the two Mobo Power pins with a small metal object (small flat blade screwdriver).

Re: Computer Won't Boot

Sorry, my PSU is the Silencer 750 Quad (Red) the End of Life series. Just looked them up on the site. Do not have the mk II.

I've jumped the 2 pins and nothing happened.

Re: Computer Won't Boot

I was just able to get my computer running again...however, I'm not sure why doing what I did worked. On the back of the motherboard I pressed the light bulb button for the LCD screen 3-4 times and tried booting it up. It worked, everything is running and working as if nothing happened. Any ideas as to why this would fix it? I understand its the "child safety switch" but how or why does it keep getting flipped even when no one is using?

Re: Computer Won't Boot

It's difficult to troubleshoot intermittent issues. Your PSU was made by SeaSonic so it is top quality but 3-4 yrs. old makes almost any component suspect.
My best "guess" would be unstable power or possibly a Mobo problem.
