acer x1700 on startup freezes @ bios start

EEK!

hey everyone hope someone can help, as stated i have a acer desktp x1700, vista 64 bit, dual core, american megatrends bios, on startup the computer freezes @delete-setup, F12- to do something else, but keyboard/mouse not working(usb) so i can't enter delete/f12. i tried a ps/2 keyboard to no avail, so do i need a new motherboard or flash the bios any ideas

Try clearing the cmos and see if that helps.

does that reset to factory defaults(jumper)

Yep, you can use either the jumper or even just remove the motherboard battery for a few minutes. With the battery removed (unplugged from the wall, of course), then hit the power switch a couple of time, put the battery back and give it a try. If you use just the jumper, then do that same thing as instructed above. Or, best to do both the jumper and the battery, but usually just one will do.
