I have a wd elements portable and suddenly today it crashes my windows explorer when I try to to do any transfer of files to and from it. I tried my parents vista desktop and it transfers fine. Any ideas what could be the problem? Any info would be great, I'm not clued up on these things.

For what operating system is the drive formatted? Is it Vista, or Windows 7?
We had the opposite problem, when a My Passport drive would not work under Vista but only under Windows 7.
Maybe you need to reformat the drive for both operating systems.
