My System

I'm not a Mac person, but for sharing an Internet connection, I suggest a broadband router. I can't really help you with the file sharing, though I know it's possible.

If you use a roll over network cable, you should be able to statically configure the IP addesses get the machines talking.

Machine 1:
IP - 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
Default gateway - 192.168.0.2

Machine 2:
IP - 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
Default gateway - 192.168.0.1

On the PC, look under Settings, Control Panel, Network and Dial Up Connections,
click on the LAN interface Icon, click properties, on the General tab scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click properties, click use the following IP address and enter the info from above.

On the MAC??? look for network configuration somewhere.

How you transfer the file??? Maybe some sort of connection sharing or 3rd party software application??

To adjust the settings on your Mac you go to System Prefs > Network > Ethernet

Way # 1: Now to actually get files from the PC to the Mac make sure you have Windows File Shareing enabled on the Mac (System Prefs > Sharing) Then go to your PC and open your Network Connections folder (Desktop or Start Menu) and select your Mac in there. Send over the files. The files will be put in /<username>/public

Way # 2: In Windows set up file shareing. Then on your Mac click anywhere on your desktop then click on "Go" on the tool bar at the top and go down to "Connect to Server". Type in "SMB://<ip of windows machine>" and there you go.

Note: If you need to find out the IP address of your Windows box. Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. In there type "ipconfig"
