updated thread on a website I stil have a problem accesing...

I created a thread over two months ago to discuss my issue with a particular website I am having trouble accessing in my wireless network. To recap, I never had a problem accessing this website previously , and this problem started to occur a few months ago. I thought maybe my ISP may have blocked the website , but I contacted them and they said they had not blocked the website. I also have no problem accessing this website in other wireless networks in my town and state, as well as a website out my state. Its certainly not related to the computer I am using because I cannot access the website on any of the computers in my house either. One of the users who reply to my initial post and said that I should directly plug the modem into my router, to determine of the website is being blocked. I plugged my dsl line into my laptop and I was still unable to access the website. I contacted the websmaster of the creator of the website and he said he did not block my access. What other solutions would you recommend to eliminate this problem?

This is the message that appears when I type the website into the address box
Quote:
The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

looks good. you get there though lunerbreeze appears to be the hosting company.

does the error happen if you use IE?

Yes, the error does recur if I use Internet explorer. What would you recommend?

Re: updated thread on a website I stil have a problem accesing...

connect wired to the router. still have a issue?
if you use a friends laptop/notebook on your connection same issue?

the question that needs answering is where is the problem. with your pc or with the connection.

The problem is most certainly with the connection and not my PC.I can access the website in other areas, just not in my home. I've tried accessing the website by connecting my dsl wired cable directly into the ethernet port of my laptop and I obviously failed. I've also tried accessing the website using other computers in my home and that also failed.

Yes. I have access to the particular website everywhere I've been that has wireless internet except my home.

Re: updated thread on a website I stil have a problem accesing...

Only conclusion I can come to is its your ISP.

What is strange is you can tracert to the site.

Start by getting them to change the modem. If still going on I would try a different isp.

I can't change ISP providers because there is only one ISP provider in my whole town. I talked to my ISP provider and he was unable to fix my problem. He had no problem accessing the website on his end though. I didn't change my modem, but I did have my IP address changed by my ISP provider, and of course that did nothing. What was the purpose of performing the tracert?

Re: updated thread on a website I stil have a problem accesing...

The purpose of the tracert was to see if you had a hosts file/firewall blocking that particular site or there was something in the router blocking the site. But nothing stopped the tracert and you got to the host site.

tracert uses icmp. your issue is using http. but the same machine works elsewhere. its only on the home link it doesn't

changing your wan ip wouldn't make a difference to outbound traffic.

couple more thoughts:
do a nslookup generation-x.net
and post the results

next do a
http://74.50.27.123 in IE or firefox. Do you get there?

Re: updated thread on a website I stil have a problem accesing...

The web hosting company is dong something weird with that web site.

C:\Users\>nslookup generation-x.net
Server: dnscache-or.integraonline.com
Address: 204.130.255.3

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: generation-x.net
Address: 74.50.27.123

but if I do a http://74.50.27.123 I get a Plesk Control Panel

according to domaintools we have
Email Search: is associated with about 4 domains

Note that NS1 is the same ip as listed in nslookup and its the same place as the Plesk control panel. That is not how a name server acts. Usually you can't get to the dns server at all.

I am sorry, but how does all this information that you looked up about the site using nslookup and plesk control panel help me figure out the problem with accessing the website? Not that I would hack into or am I advocating anything illegal, but I just want to know out of pure curiosity whether or not the site is easy to hack into since you were able to find personal information on the admins of the site(by personal info, I mean their physical address and phone number)

Re: updated thread on a website I stil have a problem accesing...

All the info I posted is public info. Google whois for more info on the subject.

What I was pointing out is the way this site is setup is nonstandard. They appear to be doing web page redirection.

That web page redirection appears to be messed up. This can explain why you can't get to the site. Now why others can is a mystery though I suspect it has to do with updating www dns servers.

This is all beyond your control. We have eliminated any issues with your pc and since you can't change ISP's I don't see any solutions for you.
