Slow Wireless Speeds.. Intermittent

Provider: Verizon Fios
Broadband Type: Fios/ Fiber Optic
Firewall/Virus Protection: None
Xirrus: TinyGrab - Simple. Screenshot. Sharing.
Ip Config Attached

My internet in my new townhouse is very slow.. I run a 35MB u/d service from Fios.

Wired is fine. But my wireless is slow, I get a better signal from my neighbors across the street.

Typically i get around 4-6MB up/down, on a good day ill get 12-13 MB (which id be fine with).

Ive had multiple providers (Comcast and Fios), i've had 3-4 different routers, 3 different wireless adapters, 2 different computers (one mac, one PC) and the same results everytime.

Sometimes when i change the channel it works good for a few hours.

I've reinstalled my OS a few times, so its not a virus issue.

I dont run any bluetooth devices normally.

Anyone have any thoughts? this has been plaguing me for months, and a reliable connection is necessary for me as i run a small business from home.

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Slow Wireless Speeds.. Intermittent

first order of business is change your wifi channel to something other than 1,6 or 11 so you aren't competing with them.

Please list make/model of router

Re: Slow Wireless Speeds.. Intermittent

thanks for the reply.

I was always told not to use anything but 1,6,11. I switched it to a few others 2,10,5 and im getting around 2MBPS.

Im currently using Fios router Actiontec M1424-wr, but ive also used my Dual Band NetGear WNDR3700 and have had the same results.

Thoughts?

Hello,

A concern here... Firewall/Virus Protection: None
You can't be browsing without any protections. Try MSE, it's free.

Something is not right then. Please post the speedtest results while wired directly to the router and another wireless connection.

Have you tried changing the Wireless Mode, usually it's on Mixed Mode, try an N or G or B/G and find out where you can get a great results.
