[SOLVED] Im using Firefox, but hearing the IE clicking noise??

You know the clicking noise IE makes when you browse or refresh web pages? I keep hearing that exact noise through my speakers even though I'm not using IE! IE is on this computer, along with Firefox. My roommate uses IE. I was watching tv and the laptop was on, just in idle mode on the desktop, and I'm hearing the IE clicking noise. I ran virus scan, spyware scan, still doing it. Computer seems to be running flawlessly. Please help.

My System

Re: Im using Firefox, but hearing the IE clicking noise??

Hi, welcome to TSF

System sounds can be associated with more than just one program, so the 'clicking' one you hear when using IE could also be used by another program or process.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Sound & Audio Devices > Sounds tab. Scroll down the list to find the clicking sound associated with IE, then see which other program events are also associated with the sound. This will help you narrow it down to a few possibilities which we can then look at in more detail.

Thanks, I figured it out. It was magicjack changing advertisements in the soft phone. At any rate, I did disable the clicking noise and no longer hear it. Thanks
