Either go to Tools>Options and go through the options there, or if you're using version 1.5 or higher, go to Tools>Clear Private Data.

You can actually set Mozilla not to keep any history data at all by setting the 'remember visited pages for the past [x] days' to 0. Then, the only addresses it'll take in will be through the autocomplete, and if you uncheck the box for that in the advanced, it'll only keep them for the session only.

Go to Tools > Options > Privacy tab, click the Settings button at the bottom for the Clear Private Data tool and select the items you want to clear (browsing history, download history and cache), then enable 'clear private data when closing Firefox'.
