Firefox Crashed after Closing?
So, I always close Firefox by closing the main window, and If I've been using it for awhile, it'll take a minute or two for it's processes to close in Task Manager. Well, after a load of slowdown from Windows Automatic Updates, then getting everything back up to speed, I closed down Firefox for the night. So, it did the usual thing, but then I noticed the RAM usage stop lowering from both it's processes (firefox.exe and plugin-container.exe). All of a sudden, crashreporter.exe pops up and a button for the Crash Reported appears in the Taskbar. However, no window for it appeared. So, I closed the Crash Reporter in the task bar, and then firefox.exe and plugin-container.exe went back to normal, and closed about 15 seconds after that.
However, just to be safe, I re-opened Firefox. It went completely unresponsive, so I had to close it in Task Manager manually. Afterward, I reopened it and it loaded everything quickly and worked fast like it should. After closing that, no crash reporter came up.
This little problem only happened last night. The only plugin I had running before was Flash. Still, what caused it to crash? Did it somehow crash when it tried to end it's own processes? Was it maybe because of Windows Update eating up a lot of the RAM fifteen minutes earlier? Maybe was it a one-time thing? I really don't see why it decided to crash.
They say that if Firefox processes remain in Task Manager after closing the Firefox windows, then it is still running but is unresponsive. Whenever it does this, they'll close after about a minute. Still, what even happened?
I'm using Firefox 7.0.1.
