hi, im havin a little problem here, my web browser is notworking so well, when i open it, it doesnt go to my home page, my forward and back arrows arent working neither is the refresh button, and my addres bar only shows the direction i type in, so, if i type google.com it takes me there, but right now im at this page and my address bar shows goole.com =S it doesnt show any list of the sites ive been neither =S

the console is givin me 2 errors:

1) Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///usr/lib/firefox-3.0.6/components/nsBrowserGlue.js :: bg__initPlaces :: line 449" data: no]
Source File: file:///usr/lib/firefox-3.0.6/components/nsBrowserGlue.js
Line: 449

when i open the source file it highlightes this:
getService(Ci.nsINavHistoryService);

2) Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8007000e (NS_ERROR_OUT_OF_MEMORY) [nsIDocShellHistory.useGlobalHistory]" nsresult: "0x8007000e (NS_ERROR_OUT_OF_MEMORY)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/browser.js :: prepareForStartup :: line 763" data: no]

Hi,

Welcome to TSF!!

I would just like to say that this seems like a big problem. I have found a couple of different places where people are having the same problem.

I have found a solution that I would like you to try as a test. If you would open up terminal (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) Once that opens I would like you to type:
Code:
firefox -safe mode
This should start FF in safe mode with all extensions and plugins disabled. See if your navigation buttons are able to be used from here.

Cheers!

Ok i did
Code:
sudo firefox -safe mode
and everything worked well, but i had to run firefox alaways from the terminal in safe mode, thats not a big deal for me, im learning, and i do enjoy using commands and stuffs, i consider this partial solution like a great way to navigate while fixin these problems.

one thing i tryed (just 2 mins ago lol) that worked for me was removing firefox
Code:
sudo apt-get remove firefox
and then runin it again!! (whitout intalling it!!!) i know its reeeeally weird but now im runnin everything normally =D

THX A LOT for taking the time to answer my post, im really happy ive joined this forum!! i hope this could help some others with the same problem.

Good luck pal

Cheers!

so am i lol this is what i ge at the terminal if i try to remove firefox again:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove firefox
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package firefox is not installed, so not removed
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Oo idont know whats happenin but i think firefox was not removed.. this may be something similar to what i get when i try to completely remove wine, even after removing it, i still can see programs i installed with wine, autocad, dream aquarium dreamweaver etc.. but offcourse im not able to run them.. apt-get remove is not working properly for me i guess lol

Hi,

It seems as though you did install FF again. I would guess that it removed 3.0.x and went back to the default version that it came with.

Cheers!
