I'm looking for a lightweight fast browser for my brothers computer because he uses my old computer whic only has 256MB RAM.
BTW don't suggest Firefox or IE because they are way too slow.

safari or opera. things will be slow regardless because he only has 256MB which is barley enough to run XP pro, Vista or 7 adequately so anything else installed on the pc will be slow. Upgrade the ram to atleast 1GB if possible 2GB would be best.

Chrome! And Chrome, and Chrome!
Tell u the truth, IE7 is sometimes driving me mad.
Of course, I thought IE9 is better.

I also am trying to find the best browser for an ancient laptop with 512k max.

This page would lead us to believe opera is going to be our best bet: browser comparison chart

i will try and post back here with the actual run result. IE and Firefox arent good at all on this old laptop.

I've been using it for almost 2 years, IMO it the fastest, and easiest to set up.
the downside, not all sites/apps like it,but that doesn't happen that often.
But what ever blows the most wind up your skirt ... is always best !!

btw,

Opera has worked out extremely well for my laptop with only 512k of RAM.

All the other browsers were miserable.

Opera.
