Scanner Problem

I had this printer on here previously and it worked. I had Win98 SE then. I now have Win XP. Now when I try to scan I get this message: The scanner could not be initialized because it was not found. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and it still isn't working. Could it be a conflict with WIN XP?

Unfortunately, you haven't provided any details of the printer model so we can't check it's compatibility with Windows XP. You said it used to work with Windows 98SE. Did you check on the printer manufacturer's website to see if they support Windows XP for that model? (ie do they have a Windows XP driver for it).

If it used to print & scan on Windows XP before this issue started, try re-installing the XP driver package.

It is a HP series 1200 all-in-one. I haven't checked their website yet. I googled the problem first and didn't find anything. I will try going directly to the website. It did work for a minute on XP so reinstalling may be an option. I just hate to lose everything.
