I just found a similar thread (http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/cant-boot-vista-630482.html) about rebooting issues after Valentines Windows update...now one week ago. I am running
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit on a Gateway P7805u Laptop. Original installation, no recovery disks, and cant boot into safe mode or restore to any previous restore points.
Here's the problem details:

I'm planning on updating the OS to Win7 64-bit Home Premium, but REALLY want to do the simple upgrade I've been hearing about where it brings all my programs forward. Problem is I can't boot into Win Vista to accomplish the upgrade! Why does a Windows update screw Windows up????
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
