i was trying to make the bootable flash drive but in the live usb tool i made the usb media my hard drive becuase i didnt understand how it was labeled and i need to know how to undo this.
Sorry about not explaining well. Yes I need to do that but I can't because I don't have my windows cd so I made a flash drive from a legal ISO but when I click repair my computer It doesn't show any windows installations.
>>>>>Hi again: Here are the only 2 legit Win7 ISO image sites currently available from one of our senior Moderators here on TSF:
They are also available here
http://www.w7forums.com/threads/offi...wnloads.12325/
and here those are just a couple more http://www.techverse.net/download-wi...icial-servers/
**As I indicated in my previous, Post, I tried downloading ISO image from both of these to try and make another Win7 bootable flash drive (I have a 64bit but also need a 32bit); but I couldn't download the images. It's worth a try however. It's possible Microsoft has found these and removed or blocked them also. I've probably tried about 30 other sites which claim to be legit, but they do not work. ** <<<<BIGBEARJEDI***>>>>
I used something called slitaz. Slitaz.org is the website. I posted a forum there and the. Guy said the same thing.
When I type fix boot it says element not found.
i fixed the element not found with this bootmgr not found. bootrec /rebuildbcd and /fixboot give 'Element not found" error
Google search EXACTLY windows 7 home premium 64bit ISO. It will be the first Microsoft.com link. He gives you a direct link.Well, here's the thing, can you tell us the exact make/model of your computer (desktop or laptop) or custom-build PC specs? This will help us to determine if you have a built-in RECOVERY PARTITION already on your hard drive and how to access it. This would allow you to bring your computer back to a Win7 boot. On the creation of the Windows7 bootable flash drive, that it not a trivial task; it took me 2 yrs. to create one that works. And the Slitaz tool you used did NOT work for me at all. Additionally, what site did you download your "legit ISO" of Win7? Microsoft has scrubbed 99% of those from the Internet and almost all do not work. One of our Mods here is aware of a couple of sites that Microsoft has not removed the Win7 ISOs from; but I haven't been able to download from either of them; so they may have been discovered and removed. I'll look to see if I can find them and Post here in subsequent Post. In the meantime, your best bet is to Post your Machine specs so we know what we are dealing with and can recommend a RECOVERY solutions from the hard drive. The next challeng you have, is that if you DO run the built-in RECOVERY media from the drive partition, it WILL ERASE 100% OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM YOUR HARD DRIVE>>>!!! So, the next question is do you have that hard drive backed up with your Personal Information?? If not, you should take a minute to attempt data recovery on that drive FIRST, before reformatting the drive or the drive boot partition with the RECOVERY software. You should use Testdisk to recover photos and music, or Recuva, or GetDataBack if your answer to my backup question is "NO" prior to proceeding. If you said "NO" to the backup question, but do not have any luck with the 3 tools above, I recommend you purchase a new hard drive and install Win7 from that to get your computer working again, and you'll have to send out your hard drive to a Professional Data Recovery service which is very, very expensive. (If you said "YES" to my backup question, you can ignore these last 2 paragraphs). You have some additional options to try as well depending on what your next steps produce: 1) You can purchase factory Microsoft Win7 install media for about $80-$90 on eBay to reinstall your OS if you have that hard drive backed up or go the new hard drive purchase method. *you will still need to download and install all the machine-specific drivers from the manufacturer's website (either computer maker or motherboard-maker) in order to get the computer working again with all internal devices.* This takes 1-2 days. 2) If you have an OEM or name brand computer (Dell, HP, Acer, Gateway, Lenovo, etc.), you can contact the manufacturer and see if there are available RECOVERY discs available for your exact model computer. They will run between $30-$99, AND it will have all the drivers you need for your model computer so you can skip the driver download step in #1 above. Typically takes 2-3 weeks to get in the Postal Mail. Lastly, you may consider taking your computer to your local Computer Pro and have them take a look at it, they usually have bootable Win7 media (discs and/or flash drives) made already since they do this for a living, and they can tell you within a few days whether your hard drive is revivable or not for probably $30-$90. This is the same cost that Microsoft Win7 factory install disks or OEM RECOVERY DISKS will cost you. The added advantage, is many good Techs also are familiar with data recovery, so you may wish to have them attempt that if you do not have that hard drive backed up. He also may suggest if that is your only computer that you pay him to put a new hard drive in and get Win7 going on it again so it's useable right away, and work on recovering data off the damaged one in the background. Let us know your machine specs and answer to the backup question and we can advise further if you are still having difficulty. 'luck, :thumb: BIGBEARJEDI
