[SOLVED] Think iv really messed up
Hey guys, its been a long time since iv been here but moved over to macs
any way, once again i need help, firstly not sure if this is the right section, please forgive me if not...
i have a brand new Packard Bell Easynote LJ65 laptop, it came with vista home.
now the HDD has nothing iv completely formatted it and created a slipstreamed XP install disc with SATA drivers which was a recommended procedure.
i bought the XP from this place which i thought was legit but am now having doubts????
http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/167958/Windows-XP-Professional-Edition/Product.html?ptsl=1&ob=Price&fb=1
ok what else do i need to do to be able to install XP, i tried installing before doing the SATA slipstream thing and all i got where BSOD's and error codes! im hoping the slip streaming will work now but just wanted to get some feedback and advice, i need XP on this laptop
many thanks team

Re: Think iv really messed up
What error messages do you see? What is the SP level of your XP installer?

Re: Think iv really messed up
Sure... first off, please include brand and the exact model of the laptop.
Usually we ask for a full report of Everest Home Edition (I suggest you do not paste it here but zip it and attach it in your post).
The report will almost always give us the info we need but sometimes, we also need the Device Instance ID. So best if include this for each device in question (devices needing drivers).

http://www.packardbell.co.uk/products/notebooks/easynote-lj/EasyNote+LJ65-DT-100/productsheet-LX.B550X.003-1693.html
the laptop in it's current status has nothing but XP installed, im not familiar with the Everest program but will dl it and install it on the laptop. but for the device instance id, where would i find that?

Re: Think iv really messed up
Device Instance ID - you have to open Device Manager (START | RUN | type devmgmt.msc | press enter). In Device Manager, look for devices with yellow or red marks. Also look for devices under UNKNOWN. Go thru each one. Get their properties. In device properties window, click on the DETAILS tab.
As for Everest, there is a link on my sig.

Re: Think iv really messed up
ok so an update,
all drivers bar the SM bus and video installed.
the SM bus didnt install as i dont have the drivers but the video install attempt gave me a warning saying error driver selected does not support xp.
i replaced the recomended file after installing it
desktop>9_3_mobile_xp32_dd_ccc_enu>driver>xp_inf>(replaced CX_76831)

Re: Think iv really messed up
your referring to
2. add ",0x9553" to the end of the second line (turn off word wrap in notepad!) of the chapter under [WINXP] starting with "R6=DriverPath_R6" of both files
\ATI\SUPPORT\[Current Version]\Driver\Driver\CX_*****.INI
&
\ATI\SUPPORT\[Current Version]\Driver\Driver\INSTALL.INI
then install the dd the regular way (setup.exe)
correct?

Re: Think iv really messed up
this is really stressing me now, could some one check if i am doing this correctly as it's still not working?
i download this FILE
then install it onto desktop
i go Desktop>9_3_mobile_xp32_dd_ccc_enu>Driver>XP_INF>CX_76831
in this file i insert the following
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553
(i changed HD 4530 to HD 4570 so as it suits my card) under the [ATI.Mfg.NTx86] chapter
THEN
i go 9_3_mobile_xp32_dd_ccc_enu>Driver>CX_76831 and insert ,0x9533 at the end of the 2nd line in the chapter of [WINXP]
and do the same in
9_3_mobile_xp32_dd_ccc_enu>Driver>INSTALL
Am i doing something wrong?
when i install the regular way i get a severe error still if i seek the INF file i get a message saying it doesnt support XP
I REALLY REALLY dont mean to try any ones patience
