[SOLVED] Dell Latitude D630C with wireless card problem

Hey Guys,

I hope I'm posting this in the right section but I have a problem with this.

Here's what I have tried:
-installed and uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver from dell.com as well as Intel
-disabled/re-enabled the driver

So the wireless card is: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

According to Dell's support website the driver is R202962 which is the one I have installed.

A little background.. I got this Dell recently (used) from Dell. When I got home, some of the drivers were missing which I was told at the time may be the issue (in which case I was advised to simply go to dell's website and download the missing drivers). I did this as one of the missing driver's was the wireless card driver. After installing pretty much every driver, I managed to still have two missing drivers which I figured I'd figure out later as everything else (including the wireless card) was working.

Fast forward to a few days later when I shut down my computer (not the first time since driver updates) and leave my house. Come home, start the computer and the wireless card driver is no longer working! I try install/uninstall/reinstall the driver - nothing.

I am not sure what to do now?

Here's a screen shot if it may help?

Re: Dell Latitude D630C with wireless card problem

Ok so I finally managed the get the driver installed and it is working now and recognizing. However the WiFi light is still off and it is not finding any networks. The switch on the right for the wireless is in the ON position. I tried to reset it was well and do the "repair" function.

Try to download #3 item (and install) from the link below:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...=156&submit=Go!

That would give you an Intel application that you can use to switch ON/OFF the RADIO or your wireless. I am not sure if this will bypass the physical switch function but I think this is worth a try.

Re: Dell Latitude D630C with wireless card problem

Thank for your help! Since the laptop was used, the battery on the laptop was no good. I had to pick up the battery (a new one) from the laptop sepperately and just got it today. Oddly enough, plug in the battery, power on - everything works great. :)

Oh I thought your thread was about a wifi switch? So a new battery solved it?

Thank you for the update. If this is OK now kindly mark this thread as SOLVED.

Yup wasn't the switch for sure. Not sure what it was exactly. But oddly when a battery was inserted everything started running perfectly.
