This problem appeared a few months ago, and seems to trigger rather randomly: sometimes it takes weeks to see it happen, while sometimes I face it over a hundred times a week, even rebooting in the middle of a rebooting... Troublesome. Just to be specific: I am talking about a sudden shut off of the computer followed seconds later by my computer restarting. Not the 'normal' restart function of the computer, obviously. It mostly happens during games, but sometimes it has happened while simply surfing the web.

My first instinct has been a overheat problem and I have thus dedusted my laptop as much as possible. However, I was proven wrong as my computer keeps crashing despite the temperature being way below the Tj Max.
I assume it is a hardware problem, as it looks like one, but maybe it is software-related? Drivers to blame? A faulty RAM? A malware? A problem with the charger?
Speaking of which, I have made some tests:
- The problem occurs even if I remove the laptop's battery, so the battery isn't at fault
- The problem however IS YET TO OCCUR when the laptop runs on said battery alone. Can the charger be the cause of these symptoms?
- It occurs frequently during games that demand some power, while simpler games like Football Manager rarely ever cause the problem.
- However it does happen sometimes that the computer reboots with no game run. It is just a lot less frequent.
- I have already mentioned it: it is frequent that the problem occurs several times in a row: after the crash/reboot, while the computer is booting, BOOM, it happens again.
I already read and tried a lot, but nothing seemed to work. Any idea?
My specs:
MSI GT683DX-640NE
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
6GB RAM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
GeForce GTX 570M
